Last week, we had a chat with Christian Taylor – a Nashville-based content creator at Craylor Media.
Their flagship YouTube channel, Craylor Made, focuses on comparisons and tutorials for online tech like WordPress, web hosting, domains, VPNs, password managers, and more.
In this post, we'll walk you through why Christian migrated all their short links from Bitly to Dub and how it helped him gain deeper insights into engagement and audience behavior.
Why are short links important to your business?
I started using short links in the description of my videos when I was joining affiliate programs to promote in comparison videos. Since I often feature the same product in many different videos, it is critical that I can update a product link in one place and have it seamlessly updated everywhere I’ve used it in the past.
Today, trackable short links are important so I can see accurate metrics of which products are driving the most interest. I also value having my short links on my custom domain for better brand recognition and control over the look and feel of my links.
What encouraged you to migrate from Bitly to Dub?
I first heard about Dub through a good friend of mine who is a fellow creator (Tony Teaches Tech), and he’s spoken very highly of the platform.
I was using Bitly for my short domain, craylor.link
, but due to some complications with certain link redirects not working, as well as Bitly's unresponsive support, I started evaluating other options.
There were alternatives like Rebrandly and Short.io, but Dub had the best balance of features and value. Specifically, advanced capabilities like custom link previews, device targeting, and geo-targeting gave Dub the edge over other options.
Ultimately, Dub’s responsive customer support and willingness to help migrate my links over from Bitly is what sold me on switching.
What's the biggest improvement you've noticed since switching over to Dub?
Ever since migrating over to Dub, I've gained a wealth of insights into my audience through Dub's world-class analytics product. Dub Analytics offers a level of detail I've not seen in any other platform – not only is it much more accurate, but it also lets me filter my analytics and create reports with AI.

Dub also tracks analytics more accurately. For instance, one of my previous solutions didn’t have bot protection, so I had erroneous click data from IP addresses that I knew were bot traffic.

In addition, I was also in the process of migrating my short domain from craylor.co
to craylor.link
, which was a challenging feat on my old solution. Dub, on the other hand, made it incredibly seamless to switch domains at any time.
Check out how Christian's link management experience has improved with Dub:
How was support like when you ran into issues?
Dub’s support is incredible! They helped me migrate my links promptly, taking a CSV export from one of my old providers and importing it for me. They also provided a recommendation on the best way to redirect traffic from my old domain to my new domain to ensure a seamless transition.
I have full confidence that Dub’s support team is ready to help me when I need it, and that’s something that brings great peace of mind since my short links are mission-critical to my business.
